Neuschwanstein Castle was on my "To-Do-before-I-am-old-and-grey-List" for many years basically because I am attracted to Kitsch and Tourist Magnets like this.

Once upon a time.... Neuschwanstein Castle - Schloss Neuschwanstein

I wanted to go here and laugh about the whole hype. Which I did. What I didn't expect, however, was that I was so fascinated by the whole thing that I couldn't look away ;-)

Neuschwanstein is possibly the most touristy thing I have ever done. It possibly was one of the nicest days I have ever spent, too.

Enjoy this page. It contains a lot of cream though so be careful. It might be a little too sweet for some of you ;)

Pros and Cons

Pros:It's too beautiful to look away
Cons:1.3 million visitors a year.
In a nutshell:Tourists, Kitsch, Fake - I love it!

I usually find that the places that people shy away from because they don't want to be seen somewhere touristy are the places that have become touristy because they are well worth seeing. Your page is lovely. Thank you I will be there 15 September. Kate

just a trip to boracay island next month to get some sun. really wish i could just go on a plane and meet you in karlsruhe. either way, i will make it to germany one day. hope it's sooner than later. you guys enjoy the vtmeet!

it's good to be king:)i have the same feeling as u that i'll be disappointed from the inside part of the castle;but it does look magnificent from outside;i hope there wont be many tourists in november..or am i wrong?

Now that brings back memories - long time ago when I was there. Also had one of the worst meals of my life at some place near the bottom of the road up to the castle

Hi there Yes it's well worth the walk up to the bridge - stunning views. I actually met someone on the bridge who lives in a town 12 miles away from where I was born - small world eh?
