  • The Erotic Museum in the red light district. I thought it was quite boring and tacky - apart from a few original drawings by John Lennon nothing you HAVE TO see.

At Least Do This: Take a pic of yourself in a window of the red light district! haha
Alternative: Go window shopping in the RLD ;)

  • Tourist shops.... same trap as everywhere else in the world. But fun :)

At Least Do This: Take a picture with the giant wooden shoe and feel like a real tourist!
Alternative: I never bought souvenirs in Amsterdam so I can't tell you where there are the nicest. The nicest postcards, however, I found at the canal boat shop opposite the Rijksmuseum!

    Diamonds: Gassan Diamonds Factory

  • Hmmm of course it was interesting to hear about how diamonds are cut and how to spot the differences between them. Of course it was nice to look at the most expensive diamonds and to dream of being rich. Of course it was nice that everything (including the drinks!) was free.

But it was still a tourist trap to me because all the coaches were brought here so that people will buy something...

The factory is in Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 173-175, their (nice Flash-) Website is at http://www.gassandiamonds.com. This is where I took the picture from, too.

At Least Do This: Drink! Drink! Drink! And buy a diamond ;-)
Alternative: A walk along the canals is free, too. And much more beautiful than a greasy fella telling you all about diamonds!

I've been only in Schiphol during 1 hour :-)) I was rushing too because I thought the airport is not big and spent time in shops/restaurant but suddenly I realized I might lost my plane. Fortunately my plane was delayed a bit cause of weather :-)
