Nightlife Spot: The whole area

The Leidseplein with all the bars and restaurants around it is the busiest nightlife area of Amsterdam I think.

I've only been to one of the really busy pubs directly at Leidsplein - an Irish pub called hmmm I forgot the name. There's a lot of restaurants around there as well. Be careful, a lot of them look like tourist traps. I have been to an Italian and it was ok - but I have seen better restaurants around town!

There's a nice Belgian pub just around the corner from Leidsplein, it's called De Zotte. They served loooooooooooads of different delicious Belgian beers :-), I didn't try the food but I heard it's nice. It was really busy when I was there so I guess it's really popular with locals - always a good sign!

Dress Code: Wear Green if there is a football match on telly ;-) I went there to see Ireland play Portugal in the World Cup qualifier and felt like an alian wearing a red T-Shirt.... Hopefully noone thought I'd support Portugal ;-)

Directions: Follow Rokin down from Dam Square. The pub is on the left and has several entrances!

Nightlife Spot: Nieuwmarkt

This square is the end of the red light district and it has got a lot of great bars and restaurants. I've been to Cafe Fonteyn (see above), Cafe Cuba (packed with people and a funny smell - but it looked great!)and another beer bar but I can't remember the name at the moment.
