About this page

Important to have in Amsterdam
I was in Amsterdam quite a few times in summer 2001 because my boyfriend used to work there. Unfortunately he had to leave Amsterdam rather spontaneously in July 2001 so we won't get the chance to see all the things we still had planned to see :-( No canal tour by night, no Van Gogh museum, no Rijksmuseum, no flower auction .... I never thought I would miss Amsterdam one day, but I do sometimes!

I wrote down all the things I found out here....
Enjoy!
Dag!

Return to the Dam

I returned to Amsterdam on Easter 2004. This time I was able to enjoy some of the bits I had not been to before - e.g. Anne Frank House and a night canal boat tour. So there are a few more tips coming to this page sloooowly. Please be patient!

Queensday

One amazing experience was to celebrate Queensday - the 30th of April - in Amsterdam. On this day Holland celebrates the birthday of their queen and everybody wears orange, celebrates on boats and on the streets and it's one guant party. I loved this day. Check out my travelogue for the most orange pictures I have ever taken on one single day ;-)

Pros:"Great nightlife, nice canals and houses, great fun on Queensday!"
Cons:"Amsterdam can get boring after a while! Easy to get lost as it looks the same all over town! Smell of coffeeshops makes me sick ... i'm growing old ;)"
In A Nutshell:"Lots of nice memories .. but this could have been Rotterdam or Anywhere, Liverpool or Rome. I love reunions - no matter where they are!"

I've been only in Schiphol during 1 hour :-)) I was rushing too because I thought the airport is not big and spent time in shops/restaurant but suddenly I realized I might lost my plane. Fortunately my plane was delayed a bit cause of weather :-)
