January 1st 1997: We spent New Year's Eve in the battlefield of Amsterdam. After breakfast (sugar on toast :) and before going back home to Germany we decide to go to the beach at Zandvoort. Unfortunately it felt like being on top of Mt. Everest that day, after 5 minutes we felt like we lost our fingers and nose to the cold. It was really cold that day. With the strong and cold wind it felt like -25°C. Ouch! July 4th 2001: My parents gave me a lift to Amsterdam because our plane to Ireland left from here. I promised them to show them something of the Netherlands before I picked up Colm from work and they went home to Germany. It was a really hot day so we wanted to go to the beach. I remembered Zandvoort ... (and every Dutch person seem to have had the same idea that day unfortunately!) We didn't have any coins for a car park so we decided to go to Haarlem to find a money machine and something to eat... |
