The view
During our company trip to Prague we had our dinner in one of the nicest spots of the city - in the far end of the garden of Club Lavka. We had our own bar, a buffet dinner and the views here - basically underneath Charles Bridge - were fantastic.
For those facing the bridge the view consisted of Petrin Hill, Charles Bridge and the spires of the Lesser Town. For the others the main attraction was the half naked dancer who animated the people to dance as Lavka is not only a restaurant but also a nightclub.
Favorite Dish: I don't know what's on the normal menu here as we got our own buffet consisting of nice breads, soup, salad as well as several main course dishes. It was rather tasty and washed down with Pilsener Urquell (from the bottle unfortunately) and Becherovka of course!

At Downtown Cafe
We had lunch in the garden of this stylish cafe in summer 2007. It was such a relaxing place we actually stayed here for ages drinking beer and enjoying the shade. The waiters with their cool "look better naked" T-Shirts were very friendly and the inside of the place looked lovely as well.
Favorite Dish: As the organisers of our company trip had ordered the same dish for all of us I don't know what they normally serve, when looking at the website it seems to be salads, sandwiches and cakes as well as a daily menu basically. We all got a fresh salad followed by a great dish of turkey covered with cheese and green aspargus served with fantastic mashed potatoes!

Behemian Bagels!!
Bohemia Bagel was our place to have breakfast in the 1990s. It actually was the first place I have ever had a bagel I think. Back then we came here from the flat we rented every morning and a chicken breast poppy bagel with pasta salad every morning.
In 2007 I just had to come back. In the meantime a subsidiary of the old Bohemia Bagel at Ujezd had opened. However, we came to the original one and were once again very enthusiastic about their food. The menu now is more varied and as a side dish you get fantastic coleslaw instead of the old pasta salad and the bagels are still fantastic.
It's also a great place to meet backpackers from all over the world as there are quite a few hostels in the area.
Favorite Dish: Lately I had a sesame BLT bagel which was so lovely. So was the coleslaw it came with. Unfortunately the stomach didn't have room for one of the yummy looking cakes afterwards.
I also love the fact that they serve bottomless drinks, so you can get free refills for softdrinks and coffee.

Sahara Cafe, Prague
Sahara Café is a new restaurant which only opened in 2006. It's the most stylish place I have seen in Prague or maybe Europe! You can tell that the owner put a lot of money and heart into this restaurant. The lounge upstairs is furnished in African style, the restaurant downstairs looks a bit more Asian and the garden is very European.
We were lucky that the crew opened the garden for us the afternoon we visited. It was so gorgeous with fantastic furniture and fancy leaning lamps. Also the food was great and it came at very affordable prices (200-400 crowns for a main course). There are various influences to the food - let's call it Asian, African, Arab, Italian fusion kitchen.
Favorite Dish: I had spring chicken as a starter which was very nicely marinated. As main course I had pasta with bacon and chili - very tasty as well. And so was the nut bread that came as appetizer. My collegues were very enthusiastic about the fois gras, the antipasti and the couscous so you might want to try this, too. A classy place!
This restaurant - and also beautiful Namesti Miru square - is definitely worth a trip out of the old town! A welcome change if you are sick of the hearty Czech cuisine!

Charles Bridge
The funniest menu I've ever seen was in a restaurant in a backyard off the street that leads up to the Hrad. I still die laughing when I think of it. The translater seem to have been in a funny mood when he translated it. I wonder whether he got money...
Unfortunately the funny thing was a German translated menu so it's only funny for those who understand German. Sorry!
I almost died here ;-) I laughed sooo much. Unfortunately we couldn't take the menu...I would have loved to take it as a souvenir. (We even went back 2 years later but it was gone)
Favorite Dish: 'Rührholz Eierspisen Dich Spickig'
'Obliegenheit Berge'
'Salzsteven Kartoffelbau'
'Wurswaren Zwielicht und Tanfell' (Wer kann mir sagen, wofür Tanfell stehen könnte..das frag ich mich seit Jahren!!!????)
'Sarg mit Schlagsahne'

Lil Eiffel Tower
'The Hedgehog'. Sorry I can't remember the Czech name but that's the translation.
My friend:'Do you speak German?'
Waiter:'No'
My friend:'What's XXXX (Czech meal)?'
Waiter (in perfect German): 'Well, it's pork and potatoes and sauce etc etc etc' ;-)
Favorite Dish: Palacinky (Crepes) with icecream and fruit...lovely. The beer (Staropramen) was excellent as well. And really cheap (around 1 Euro for 0.5 litre). But that's a few years ago...
Comparison: least expensive
Directions: It's close to the railway station called 'Vrsovice'. Sorry but that's all I remember
