Wien, Wien Nur Du allein

by sabsi - last update: Oct 21, 2006

In August 2006 I visited Vienna for 5 wonderful summer days. Parts of our stay were dedicated to the colleagues as Vienna was the destination for our annual company trip. However, before and after the bunch of them arrived we had quite some time to explore Vienna on our own.

We saw a lot during our time here, we explored the major sights (mostly from the outside though), went to Schönbrunn and a Heurigen "wine garden", had quite a few Schnitzels, cakes and other specialties and we really had a lot of fun there. Thanks to my colleague Sylvia, our local guide, we even learned a lot of important and not so important facts about the city.
While I was there I insisted on not putting Vienna into my top ten cities list. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the city but I wasn't too sure if this was enough. Now after returning home and putting together this page I am not so sure about this anymore... Vienna might actually be in the top ten now!
Hope you'll enjoy reading about my time in Vienna, about a royal birthday party and how I almost ended up in prison because of a small "Pfiff", about Paradeisers and our quest for the best cake in Vienna....

Küss die Hand!

Pros:"Good food, great atmosphere, funny dialect, clean and safe"
Cons:"Grumpy people, but as they are typical they add to the charme and could actually be a Pro ;)"
In A Nutshell:"Top 10 or not Top 10, that is the question."

Hi Sabsi! Thanks for the great pics and tips. I wanted to visit Vienna for the opera but after seeing the cake...I must have a slice of Mozart as well!!!

It is quiet in the mornings but in the afternoon/evening it is a great place to meet friends and people watch. It would be nice to see some sand sculpture at the beach!
