The Dart - Dublin

The Dart

Walk! DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) Review

You can easily walk to all the nice places in Dublin. However, to go to the little villages at the coast take the commuter train DART. (Dublin Area Rapid Transit). It stops at many stations in Dublin city centre such as Connolly Station, Pearse Street or Tara Street.

Rent a car Car Rental Information Review

We got the cheapest rate at Budget Rental at Dublin Airport. (Ask them for any other car than a FIAT SEICENTO though ;)

But if you are just staying in Dublin a car is like a ball on a chain at your foot!!! Only get one when you want to drive around the country!

Connolly Station - Dublin

Connolly Station

Getting around Ireland --- Not by train!! Train Stations Review

Not by train!! The train system is terrible, everywhere you go you have to get the train to Dublin first and from there you continue towards your destination. Trains are always late. Busses are better (and cheaper I think).
Dublin has two main stations: Connolly Station (picture) for trains going North and South and Heuston Station for going West.

On the way to Ireland - Dublin

On the way to Ireland

Getting there Aer Lingus Review

By plane with Aer Lingus. For me this was the best Airline I ever travelled with. But then again I'm not a big flyer anyway because I hate it. But my first flight was an Aer Lingus one from Dusseldorf to Dublin and I loved it(especially the view of the green fields in the last 10 minutes, see picture). Troubles started later....

Dublin airport is a bit outside the city in the north and can be reached by DART & Bus.
If you want to take a bus in Dublin you need exact change! And patience...

Aer Lingus plane - Dublin

Aer Lingus plane

Aer Lingus Aer Lingus Review

Aer Lingus is the national airline of Ireland and connects Dublin with lots of places all over Europe. It's quick, from Amsterdam the flight time is 65 minutes, from Germany it's 1 hour 40 or something.... On the picture you see one of their nice green Planes. Actually the first plane I ever took in my life...

The DART stations - Dublin

The DART stations

The DART DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) Review

Here you can see the stops of the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit). The prizes are quite cheap. This ticket from Clontarf to Dalkey cost me only IEP 1.30! Not much for a trip to the countryside...

Unfortunately the map I made is a bit out of date. There are a few new DART stations now.

Getting around General Travel Information Review

By boat/car. It's better to have a car in Ireland to see more places as the train system sucks. But when you're in Dublin park your car somewhere in the safe suburbs along the coast and use public transportation.
