"Portmagee, Skellig Rocks and the Skellig Ring" Portmagee by sabsi
Portmagee Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 13 photos
The Skelligs are my favourite place in Ireland. They are two rock islands off the Kerry coast where there's only birds and steps and a ancient settlement on top. You will find more about this amazing experience on this page. See my Co. Kerry page as well. There's a huge travelogue on Skellig there!
Portmagee is a little village at the Skellig Ring. This is where the bridge to Valentia Island is and it's also where to boats to Skellig Michael go from. There's also the Skellig Experience Visitors' centre here and quite a few pubs.
Skellig Ring is a ring road off the famous Ring of Kerry. We were really lucky to have booked a B&B here - otherwise we would have never found this wonderful place probably. Just as all the other tourists - that's why this area is deserted and wonderfully quiet!
- Pros:Great stuff to do, beautiful landscape... PUFFINS :)
- Cons:Staying at the beach means early nights as the next pub is 4 miles over the hill. Also hungry nights because that's where the next restaurant is, too ;)
- In a nutshell:I wanna be back there!

This is what VT is all about -- a secret spot that doesn't look like much on the map. But with Sabine as your guide you discover the magic that exists there. Fabulous pages about this area! Thanks.
