"Medieval Zons" Dormagen by sabsi

Dormagen Travel Guide: 39 reviews and 84 photos

Zons is an old part of the city of Dormagen. The old houses, towers and narrow quiet streets of this fortress town are a perfect place for a sunday afternoon walk if you live around the area.

Zons is located between Cologne and Düsseldorf at the river Rhine. You can get here by ferry from Düsseldorf or from the Autobahn at Dormagen.

It's funny when you walk around the fields at Zons you see the chimneys of the Bayer factory at the horizon. It's still hard for me to imagine that you can find a place like this in an area like this.

There are a lot of colourful window shutters everywhere which I like. There's also many old charme cafes and fortress buildings which are quite interesting to look at. My favourites here must be the bakery and the "interactive" windmill though....

Find out more about Zons here soon. This page is still under construction.

Nice pics of the GTG. A big surprise for me that Holger was late ... He was right in time when we met in Dresden.

Fabulous page and excellent travelogue. Well done. The answer to your first question is: Steffi was late, but she isn't on that first photo ... *verybigsmile* ... and anyway, I announced in the forum that I might be late ... :o)

Wow... with her red jacket, Steffi could be a modern Loreley for the Rhine Ships, luring them to the shores...
