Friùli-Venezia Giulia is the Italian multicultural region. Its belonging to several different states and its being in permanent contacts with other peoples created a unique cultural pattern.
Two cultural regions can be distinguished inside the administrative region:
- Friùli (called Friùl in Friulan, the regional language), coinciding with the provinces of Udine and Pordenone. This area belonged to the Venetian Republic in the past and Venetian influences can be seen in many architectural elements of the two towns;
- Venezia-Giulia, coinciding with the provinces of Trieste, which is also the regional capital city, and Gorizia. Both belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire for a long time and had a very troubled history in the 20th century.

In this page I will try to give you an idea of how beautiful this region is. Unfortunately, it is not considered as a touristic region yet, but I hope the situation will improve.
