Colleville-sur-Mer lies close to the sea of Normandie. It is apparently a simple village, with no attraction.
Instead, it is very known in France, Britain, Canada and the USA (but also elsewhere) for hosting the American war cemetery in France. 9386 soldiers, many unknown, are buried in this green and fresh area, looking at the sea. It is really a must see place, even if it isn't pleasant.

Je suis né à Corbie, dans la Somme. Mes parents m'emmenaient souvent promener au cimetière Anglais (WWI) ou au gigantesque cimetière Australien, à quelques km, des endroits verdoyants, paisibles et fleuris! Très belle page. |
