I visited Port-en-Bessin with my parents during our stay in
Basse-Normandie. We had rented a house in Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes, very close to it.
Port-en-Bessin lies on the beach that was called
Omaha Beach after the
landing on Normandie on 6th June 1944, when the liberation of Europe started. This village had been conquered by the German troops and today it is worth visiting for the German defensive posts that were built on the beach.
