San Francisco offers many attractions, most appear to within walking distance if you're looking at a map, but beware of the steep streets, which can make a short walk of a block seem like a 5 minute workout in the gym. High heels make going down hills almost as difficult!

Great suggestion about the organized day trips. It's wonderful to hear that they aren't all horrid and cheesy.
