"My home!" Mandeville by rubies3

I just LOVE Mandeville. I guess its because I live here, but it really is a great place. A fun place you might want to visit is the Trailhead. Its along the trace and there is a small waterpark to play in, bike and car parking, and on Friday there are vendors and live, free music. Coop Drive park is a unique and extremely fun playground, and at twelve years old I'm still not too old for it! There is a giant christmas-tree shaped monkey bar set that you climb on, and then you get someone on the ground to spin it. There is also a wooden roller slide and vending machines. The Causeway is I think the longest bridge, but after going on it more than twice, its nothing special. However, if you are popping in, do check it out! You will see pelicans, ducks, and sometimes the occasional water spout or purple martin swarm. It costs three dollars to get on the Mandeville side, and nothing to exit.
One of my all-time favorite restaurants here is Sicily's Pizza. They have their special dessert or chocolate pizza, made of cookie crust and covered in chocolate. By far the most delicious thing you will ever put to your lips. And the other pizza is fantastic too! Another cute restaurant is Louie and the Red Head Lady's. It is a tiny place on the corner of Florida and Marigny. It has delicious spaghetti and they have beautiful handmade jewelry in the back to buy. Go to Osaka's,they have the best hibachi grills, and the cooks will amaze you with their skills. Check out Yummies, a snowball stand off of Florida. It's right next to Friendly Video. They have tons of unique flavors, and if you ask them they will let you sign the countertop. Wave at the passing cars and they will honk! Also check out Raisin' Canes for the best toast and chicken you will ever eat! Buy Saints gear there too sometimes!
A great city for Geocaching, and friendly too. Bike on the Trace or check out the great restaurants, but you will love Mandeville. If you have time in the area, check out Abita Springs too for some fascinating history and the famous UCM Museum!
P.S. UCM Museum is unlike any museum you will ever see. It has the Dogigator and a telephone that if you pick up you listen to a TV show and a UFO crashed into a trailer and the mini Figi Mermaid's skeleton and things made out of beads and bottlecaps.
- Pros:friendly, good food, access to lots of cool places
- Cons:not much to see, hot
- In a nutshell:Definitely worth a look see!
