"Bantayan: The Center of the Philippines" Bantayan Island by buenababe

Of all the island's I've been to in the Philippines, I consider Bantayan as the hottest. The scourging heat of the sun is just so intense! Probably, being geographically located at the center of the Philippines, explains why it is so hot and humid there.

The tip of Negros Island is facing Bantayan. Though it is part of the Province of Cebu, going there can easily be accessible. there are regular trips of boats from Cadiz City or Sagay City to Bantayan for approximately 2 hours travel.

Bantayan Island is composed of three municipalities namely Bantayan, Sta. Fe and Madrilejos. Bantayan is centrally located, Madridejos is about 30minutes from Bantayan and Sta. Fe, where most beaches are, is around 15minutes from Bantayan. Means of transportation is the improvised motorcycle which can seat around 10 people.

A number of the island's population are from Negros who migrated there and have some business. Though it is officially part of Cebu, some people can understand our language which is hiligaynon/ilonggo,

When we went there, I have a friend who has relatives in Madrilejos. So we visited them and they suggested some place for us to visit. It was so hot and the trip was tiring, but we did enjoy and had a great time.

We stayed in Sta. Fe since we like being at the beach. Rows of resorts are located there and it was full of people since it was Holy Week at that time. The beach has white sand, unspoilt, and not highly commercialized.

Being in Sta. Fe is true meaning of Island Living.
