We visited New York City also in the Summer of 2002 and stayed only for one night, here at the New Yorker.
This year in the summer of 2003 we again stayed here for two nights.
We thought the location was fine, tube station locally, and knew the layout of the land from here.
Unique Qualities: There is a fitness centre, shop and laundry in the basement. (access via stairs or escalator). You need your card key to gain access to the laundry and fitness centre, also the toilets that are located in the basement.
There is a coffee bar, a restaurant and a bar on site.
They did not have tea/coffee making facilities in the room though, and no hair dryer!!!!
Another thing struck me as odd, the reception area is absolutely huge and yet there is nowhere to sit!!!!! Sometimes people like to sit in the hotel lobby before they set off on their travels, or write a few postcards, purchased at the hotel and post them on your way out, and although there is a small cafe to one side, there is not a general sitting area!
There is also offices situated in the hotel, and a ballroom, although I never saw it. In fact quite a lot of famous people have visited this hotel/ballroom including John F. Kennedy.
