Flamingos asleep
This hotel was built by a man called Benjy "Bugsy" Segal who was a ganster from Los Angeles. The hotel was apparently built with mob money and when it was up and flourishing he was murdered. There is a memorial to him at the hotel. It is also said that by the poolside later in the day when its not so crowded his ghost haunts the place. He actually named the hotel/casino after his girlfriend who was a showgirl and had very long legs! Dont think she had pink feathers though! :-)
On a lighter note at the Flamingo you can visit the Wildlife Habitat which is situated in the grounds of the hotel. A lovely area where you can see these lovely pink Chilean Flamingos. Whats more its free!
It was quite late in the evening when we visited and the lighting not too good, so perhaps it would be better to visit in daylight hours.
Wayne Newton and Joan Crawford also married in the wedding chapel here, although not to each other.

Little White Chapel
Las Vegas besides being famous for gambling is also a prime location for people wanting to get married!
In fact in 2003 almost 120,000 marriages took place in Las Vegas.
In the Little White Chapel many famous people who have been married here include:
Judy Garland
Frank Sinatra
Mickey Rooney
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis
Joan Collins
Michael Jordan
It was also here that Britney Spears married her then boyfriend and it lasted just over a day!
On Valentines day some chapels perform more than 80 wedding services.

Caesars Palace/Forum is I found a bit naff, trying to emulate Rome didnt really do it for me. However there are a lot of shops if you like shopping. Also a free show called the 'Fall of Atlantis' which is a water/fountain show where the aquarium holds 50,000 gallons of water. This show is on the hour every hour from 10am-11pm weekdays, its until midnight on Friday and Saturdays.
Shops include stores such as Armanu=i, DKNY, Versace and perhaps something more affordable the Disney Store!
One thing I have never seen before though and that is a curved escalator (see my pics).
Address: 3570 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Directions: Center Strip between Bellagio and The Mirage

Golden Nugget Casino/Hotel
The Golden Nugget Hotel/Casino opened in 1946 and was the first building especially built for gambling in Las Vegas. It was at one time owned by Steve Wynn along with the Mirage.
The casino was used in a reality tv show called 'The Casino'.
We parked here at the hotel when we visited. If you get your ticket validated inside the casino it is free parking for 3 hours.

Binions Horseshoe
The Horeshoe or Binions Horeshoe as it is also known was opened by a Benny Binion in 1951. Benny came from Texas had virtually no schooling and travelled around with his father as a horse trader. He is also known to have killed two men, one he got let off for and the other a suspended sentance. Apparently casinos were in days gone by lacking in the opulence that they have today. They had saw dust on the floors. Binion is reported to be one of the first to put carpets in his casino! He died in 1989.

Near to the gift shop in the Golden Nugget Hotel/Casino on display in a glass case is a real golden nugget weighing a staggering 61lbs and 11ozs. This nugget is called the 'Hand of Faith'. It was found in October 1980 in Australia by a man, his wife and four children. On display are other smaller nuggets which were found in Alaska.

Fremont Street is also has lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels and yes casinos. People try to lure you into their casino giving you strings of free beads, I wonder why they think this would tempt you to enter! There are also street entertainers and musicians.
