Goathland is a village in the North Yorkshire Moors situated off the A169 Pickering to Whitby road.
This village is famous for the television programme Heartbeat. A lot of the filming for this programme is done in this village.
For those of you who do not know of the tv programme 'Heartbeat' it is set in the 1960's. It features the village pub, the local bobbies (policemen), the Post Office, the doctor, the church and an array of villagers.
During the programme many of the 60's songs are played and as this is my era, I like the music better than the programme!
It is a lovely village and when we visited the weather was beautiful, it was also very busy with tourists, which because of the tv programme has made this village so famous.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railways which runs steam trains also stop here on the journey from Pickering to Grosmont. |
