The Eliott Hotel: Quite expensive O'Callaghan Eliott Hotel Review
Show Prices

I checked the rates of this hotel before we booked for the 2nd time at the Bristol. We had seen the hotel, and it does look really nice, and very central, off Main Street. However I didnt like the prices, I therefore emailed to see if I could get a better price and I did but it was still almost double of the price at the Bristol. About £125.00 per night, way too expensive I think.

Unique Qualities:
It does have a lot of amenities and a roof top swimming pool.

Address:

Governors Parade

Comparison: more expensive than average

Off Main Street into Library Street

Queens Hotel - Gibraltar

Queens Hotel

Queens Hotel: Just outside the walls Queen's Hotel Review
Show Prices

The hotel quotes itself as 'Gibraltars best priced' and it probably is.
We went in June 2005 for a short weekend break and because the Bristol had put their prices up we decided to give this hotel a try.
I emailed them and then confirmed on the telephone. This hotel also includes an english breakfast in their price which the Bristol doesnt.
I think Gib hotels are expensive and am amazed that some actually say they are ful1 especially at the prices they charge.

Unique Qualities:
There is no pool or anything fancy.
However there is a bar open until midnight. (I think) a large lounge area next to the bar. A large restaurant where breakfast is also served.

Address:

Boyd Street

Comparison: least expensive

Directions:

Outside the historic walls of Gibraltar, next to the car park where the cable car is.

Bristol Hotel Pool - Gibraltar

Bristol Hotel Pool

Hotel Bristol: Cheaper than some but good value Bristol Hotel Review
Show Prices

As there are not many hotels on Gibraltar, two of which are very pricey, the Bristol I think is a good choice.
A double exterior room in the summer season is £69.00. Since we visited the prices have now gone up by £10.00 a night.

Unique Qualities:
There is heating in the winter, air conditioning in the summer (although not properly ducted air con more like a fan heater which blows some cool air, a mini fridge, satellite tv, hair dryer, radio, and ensuite facilities.
Private pool with bar and snack bar.
The pool has a sliding roof which is pulled over in the winter time.
Breakfast is available with is a buffet self service continental breakfast and is £5 per head, which I think is pretty expensive.

Address:

8/10 Cathedral Square

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions:

Off Main Street, opposite the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Ocean Heights: Seems like a good deal Ocean Heights Apartments Review

I have just been reading a leaflet on accommodation in Gibraltar and found a couple of hotels I didnt know about. One was much the same price as we paid, but I also noticed apartments called Ocean Heights.
They sound fine, and in easy reach of things, nearer to the marina.
The prices sound good as well
Typical prices are
Studio apartment with fully fitted kitchen - 1 night ý35. 1 week ý190.00
1 bedroom apartment etc - ý45 per night
ý255.00 per week.
Towels, bedding etc is included.
Sounds pretty good value to me.

Unique Qualities:
There is a large swimming pool and although it is fully furnished etc, you have to pay for the hire of a tv if you want one.

Directions:

I think its down near the marina area

Rock Hotel - Gibraltar

Rock Hotel

The Rock Hotel: For the Famous Rock Hotel Gibraltar Review
Show Prices

This is another hotel where you need to take a mortgage out to stay one night. Room rates are something in the region of ?190.00 a night, well they were when I checked before we went. That price does include a full english breakfast though!

Unique Qualities:
It has a freshwater pool, with poolside bar.
It was built in the 1930's and guests include Winston Church and Errol Flynn.
It may be better if you wanted to stay here to book on a package deal it might be cheaper than flying over and then renting a room.

Europa Road

Caleta Hotel - Gibraltar

Caleta Hotel

The Caleta Hotel: A bit remote Caleta Hotel Review
Show Prices

We didnt stay here, but we did walk up to see it last November when we visited. Its a bit of a walk from Main Street and the shops, restaurants and bars, although they do have these amenities at the hotel.

Unique Qualities:
Reading their web page it does have quite a few facilities, bars, restaurants and they look really nice, but it is a bit more expensive. Its just the remoteness that put me off.

Address:

Caleta Bay

Comparison: about average

Directions:

Walking towards the airport, as you reach the roundabout turn right instead of heading on over the airport runway. Its probably about a 20 minute walk along that road.

Hotel Bristol - Gibraltar

Hotel Bristol

Hotel Bristol: Slightly jaded Bristol Hotel Review
Show Prices

On both our visits we stayed here at the Bristol hotel. Obviously the first time we came we hadnt been before and didnt know what it was like, but we found it fine. A little tatty in some respects, could do with some decorating, but the place was clean and staff very good.
It was built in 1893 and is the longest established hotel on Gibraltar.

Unique Qualities:
Outdoor pool, snack bar, bar, vending machines.

Address:

8/10 Cathedral Square

Comparison: less expensive than average

Off Main Street, opposite the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity
