L'viv Brewery / L'vivska Pyvovarnya

The L'viv Brewery (currently owned by Carlsberg Beers) gives tours of its brewery museum.
This experience left me with mixed feelings, but mostly disappointed:
- the good = there are a few good artifacts and some decent descriptions of L'viv's brewing history (which straddles an interesting time period in L'viv's history), plus 2 full-sized beers for each visitor at the end of the tour.
- the bad = unless you speak Ukrainian, much of the tour will be lost on you. There are placards with English translations, but the translations are rather poor. Depending on your mood, this is either amusing or frustrating. The tour is cheap enough (15 UAH / roughly $2), but as it is mostly an advertisement of the brewery, it should be free of charge. Only 1 kind of beer offered at the end of the tour, which is their standard lager - otherwise known as "yellow fuzzy water."

Directions: slightly northwest of the city center

Coffeehouse Hopping

L'viv is Ukraine's center for coffee houses (called "kav'yarnya") and all sorts of unique coffee concoctions. A great way to spend a day or a weekend is to go coffeehouse-hopping. Your hop will take you through the city's historic (and gorgeious!) center. Enjoy the European coziness that surrounds you!
Some coffee combinations worth trying are:
- kava po-l'vivski: coffee and cognac (found in several locations, but I personally tried it at Coffee In Leopolis)
- kava "surprise": the "surprise" being a sugar-coated egg. I promise you, it's delicious! (found at Videns'ka Kav'yarnya)
- the L'vivska Maisterska Shokoladu is a chocolate manufacturer/coffeehouse, but what goes better with coffee than chocolate??!
