At Agadir airport shiny white limousine-taxis offered to bring me to Agadir for €15. I decided to walk the 500 meters to the road to see if there was a busstop. There is one there, some blue 50-year-old shared taxis: one way Inezgane €3, to be shared. In the city Inezgane one takes another shared taxi to Agadir. I shared taxis and got to Agadir for about €|. Of course it wasn't very comfortable but fun - yes! From the central taxi area I walked for about half an hour to the Talborjt part of Agadir: just behind the (expensive) tourist area. I found several good budget hotels: expl. Hotel Tamgoute (1 pax/night/shower: €12- I stayed here, perfect!) and Hotel Canaria (€9/ shower commun) or a bit more expensive: H. La Tour du Sud, H. El Bahia. Interesting too www.hotelnejma.com. And so many luxury hotels along the see side boulevard!
I walked the beautiful beach, visited the interesting Amazigh museum, climed the Citadel mountain, visited the sardines harbour and was cleaned from top to toe in the Talborjt Sheherazad hammam (pic).
Now the 'real Marocco'!
I missed the modern CTM coach to Tafraoute. You'd better check bus hours on their website: I think only one bus a day? So I had to take a shared taxi there. Only one passenger to share with, so I had to pay €20.
A beautiful ride through an impressive valley, about 3 hours.
Tafraoute is an exceptional little city, built in a valley of red basalt. Real Amasigh houses - I visited the restored 'Maison Berber Tazka Tafraout', thank you so much, guide Mahmoud!!!
I walked and walked and walked, the surroundings are so beautiful! 'Richer' tourists can rent mountainbikes.
Several small hotels here, expl. H. Tanger (1pax/night/shower commun/€4), also the beautiful and a bit more expensive Hotel Salama.
As elsewhere foods and drinks were cheap (Tajine €3, tea €0.50).
The comfortable CTM bus dropped me at the central square of Tiznit.
Huge plastered walls around it, small workshops everywhere and the Official Artisan Centre at the central taxi place. Everything a film to my eyes! I stayed in the nice Hotel Des Touristes (€5/night/1 pax).
I walked out of the gates and miles into the plantations!
The last 2 days I stayed in Inezgane, no tourism there (good!).
I visited the enormous souk, met some very nice lokals (made friends there - going back in august!).
- Pros:beautiful country, nice people, budget prices
- Cons:too hot from 1 to 3 pm
- In a nutshell:I became a South Marocco adict!
