Manila is a little chaotic when you first visit there. There are a lot of people and it is extremely busy. Once you have a chance to get oriented, you find there are many distinct and interesting neighbourhoods that have a flavour all their own. even Makati, which most tourists visit or base themselves in, has neighbourhoods off the beaten trail that are interesting and worth exploring.

When you travel out of Pasay along Manila Bay up Epiphanios de los Santos (EDSA) - the main North-South arterial street - you eventually reach Shaw boulevard. From Shaw you can explore the Mandaluyong, San Juan and Greenhills neighbourhoods. All these areas are very interesting with a great gold and gem market at Greeenhills shopping center. Quezon City is massive and very interesting. There are many malls and museums and universities to explore. Another interesting thing to do is to visit the Libis district for a night out in a trendy area and lots of people watching.
