Edinburgh Diaries

My first time to Edinburgh was in 1998 when my family and I went to visit my brother for the weekend. We spent a day in the city where we visited Edinburgh Castle and got a "feel" for Scotland's capital.

I fell in love with the city and I decided to return a couple of months later where I spent a week exploring the city centre and made side trips to Stirling, Glasgow and Queensferry. I joined an open top bus tour and explored more of the Princess Gardens, The Royal Mile, The Old and New Towns, Calton Hill and also visited Edinburgh Zoo.

I made more trips subsequently until 2000 (Please see my memoirs in my travelogue) when my brother got a new job elsewhere and the visits to the city then were few and far between. I did visit once in 2002 but it wasn't until 2010 that I returned.

In January 2010, I spent a day sightseeing where I joined a free walking tour. I spent the Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May where I had a day or so where I visited a couple of National Trust Scotland's properties. Following my Highlands Excursion on the previous day I visited Loch Ness Experience on The Royal Mile.

Returning to Phantom - September 2012

I recently spent a long weekend in Edinburgh where I saw Phantom of the Opera. As well as seeing my favourite musical twice and catching up with fans and friends, I managed to a fair bit of sightseeing including a visit to Leith.

It was a great weekend in all! I hope to return to Edinburgh in the not too distant future.
