Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi

This is the most famous National Park, founded by Dr Francisco P. Moreno, in South America. The park is one of the most visited regions in Argentina by Argentineans and visitors alike. The main town is Bariloche and visitors use the town as a base to explore the National Park. In the North of the National Park, you can travel on the Ruta de Los Siete Lagos from Bariloche to either Villa Angostura or San Martin de Los Andes in Parque Nacional Lanin. The main lake of the National Park is Lago Nahuel Huapi where you can do boat trips from Bariloche to Isla Victoria or the west end of the lake to Puerto Blest. There you can visit Cascada Las Cantaros or travel further to Puerto Alegre where there is an opportunity to see Lago Frias, renowned for its milky turquoise coloured waters. It is possible to travel into Chile, usually on the Lakes crossing, by crossing Lago Frias to Puerto Frias. From Puerto Frias, you can cross the border into Parque Nacional Vicentre Perez Rosales to Peulla and eventually to Puerto Varas. On the border, you are able to see Cerro Tronador on the way to Peulla.
