West Yorkshire! My Home County!

I live in West Yorkshire, a metropolitan country, within the Yorkshire region of Northern England. It was established in 1974 as part of the 1972 Government Act. West Yorkshire consits of five council boroughs: Bradford, Calderdale (Halifax), Kirklees (Dewsbury and Huddersfield), Leeds and Wakefield. The Administrative City is Wakefield but the largest City is Leeds.

The county shares the borders with Derbyshire (South), Greater Manchester (South West), Lancashire (North West), North Yorkshire (North and East) and South Yorkshire (South East).

I live in Leeds and have done so for most of my life. The county is mainly urban but there are some scenic and historic spots where you can explore. I enjoy visiting places such as Saltaire, Temple Newsam Park (Leeds), Lister Park (Bradford) and others.

You can found out further more information on the West Yorkshire Joint Services if you want to learn more about the county stragetically.

An archive service available of the county including an opportunity to do one's family tree via West Yorkshire Archive Services.
