Will be travelling in remembrance of my Nan who sadly is no longer with us. As a memorial to her, I'll visit some of the places this year where I visited with my Nan as a child xxx
All About Me!
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do" Mark Twain
My name is Dawn. I live in Leeds in the UK. My biggest passion is to travel! I've travelled quite a bit worldwide so far. I intend to travel a lot more when I graduate and also my plan is to teach English abroad!
2011
I made my 4th trip to Argentina in January where I visited Buenos Aires, Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia. I had an amazing time and got loads of memories that I'll cherish for a long time!
In May I had an amazing week cruising on the Adriatic sea where I visited Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Corfu Island.
2012
Now, I'm home indefinitely! Soon as I'm ready I'm returning to Argentina to explore Atlantic Patagonia and Chilean Patagonia!
Thank you all for welcoming me on VT! So far so good:) Feel free to add me on Facebook although make sure you introduce yourself as a VT member as I'm very selective who I add as friends:)
I've recently updated my Leeds tips so please look and rate!!! Please rate my other pages!
This was taken on our family day out on the 6th August 2010. We just had a wonderful time at The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire, UK.
Sadly, since April 2012, my dear Nan is no longer with us. She's no longer suffering and is at peace. She'll be missed and will never be forgotten xxx
Done a travelogue of my cruise I took in May 2011 which you can read about!
I visited the following destinations: Kotor in Montenegro, Koper in Slovenia, Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, and Venice.
December 2011
My final trip for 2011 was in London where I booked to see Tosca at the London Coliseum. As well as the opera, I did a guided tour of The Royal Opera House and visited Benjamin's Franklin House where I did a historic experience tour.
January 2012
Made my first road trip of the year to Bradford where I visited Bolling Hall and Bradford Industrial Museum. I also made another trip to London to see the musical, Wicked.
February 2012
I hosted my very first VT Meet in Leeds! I learnt that it was first of a kind in Leeds! The meet went very well and thanks for VTers who came and support it. I plan to organise another one later on in the year!
Made a spontaneous trip to Carnforth in Lancashire to visit the Station's Visitors Centre.
March 2012
Had a wonderful day in Lancaster.
I had a few days in Plymouth and London and it was great enjoying two different productions of my fave musical and meeting up with friends.
April 2012
I made a local trip to Wetherby, a historic market town in North East Leeds.
I made a local trip to Bramham and Clifford, rural villages in North East Leeds.
Had fun doing a Heritage Trail with family one day in Darlington.
One weekend, I went to see Phantom in Manchester and the following day caught up with a friend in York where we enjoyed the city's cafe culture and some of the sights. Sadly, the same weekend, Nan sadly passed away and is now resting in peace xxx
I made a visit to Horsforth, a town in North West Leeds. It was originally a thriving Yorkshire village until it became part of the Leeds geography in 1974.
May 2012
One afternoon, I made a local trip to Aberford and Barwick in Elmet, a couple of East Leeds villages.
I returned to Manchester twice to see 'Miss Julie' at The Royal Exchange and 'Phantom' again at The Palace Theatre with friends. I also made a day trip to Blackpool where I met up with a friend and had fun exploring the front!
See what rest of 2012 brings.....my plans are always subject to change!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following travel plans:
June: Bristol (For Phantom Tour), Bath
July: Skipton (VT Meet), York (VT Meet), London (For the Olympics)
August: Leeds (For Phantom Tour!)
September/October: Halifax (for VT Meet - booked Saturday and Sunday Night!), Edinburgh (For Phantom Tour) and Berwick Upon Tweed.
October: London
November: London, Dover and Canterbury
December: Cardiff (For Phantom Tour)
Plus many day trips in West, North and South Yorkshire; East Riding of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
I'm taking a break from travelling abroad this year so I can financially detox and prepare my future after my graduation. I will do some travelling in the UK but I don't plan to go abroad. It was a hard decision to make but I think it's the right one.
2013 Liverpool to follow The Phantom of the Opera National Tour
2014 I plan to return to Argentina to visit Iguassu Falls and Patagonia's Chubut Province. Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and TEFL Abroad!
December 2010 was one the coldest winters I ever experienced and probably the coldest in my life! MSN news commented that December was the 'coldest in 120 years' with temperatures being low as minus 20 in some areas especially in the Scottish Highlands and the severe temperatures that brought most of the country to a stand still. Travelling for pleasure was not on everyone's priority list but I wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy the snow and the pretty scenery locally.
I made a couple of trips to my local park, Temple Newsam. I was able to walk to the park from where I live because it is just down the road from my home and it was nice admiring the winter wonderland and enjoying the warmth at the tea shop! We were in Darlington, in the North East of England, during the Christmas Holidays and we made a couple of local walks at a local nature reserve and at one the town's parks. Again it was enjoyable but very cold but the highlight was going sledging with my niece which I have not done since I was a kid!
November 2010: Gillybob's Christmas Markets Meet, Manchester, UK
May 2011: Oop North Crew Meet, Hathersage, Derbyshire Peak District, UK
November 2011: Gillybob's Chritsmas Markets Meet, Manchester, UK
February 2012: My very first VT Meet! Leeds Owl Trail, Leeds, UK
These meets won't be my last ones!
Next meets for 2012: Sheep Festival in Skipton; Scarecrows and Rushbearing Festival in Halifax; and Multi Trails/Walks in Leeds
For the time being I'm focusing on places I want to visit in the UK in the next couple of years:
Barnard Castle (Country Durham)
Bishop Auckland (County Durham)
Boston Spa (West Yorkshire)
Cambridge (Cambridgeshire)
Chester Le Street (County Durham)
Didsbury (Manchester)
Isle of Skye (Scotland)
John O'Groats (Scotland)
Kent (Dover, Canterbury)
Lands End (Cornwall)
Northern Ireland (Belfast & Giant Causeway)
Oban (Scotland)
Penzance (Cornwall)
Port Sunlight (Merseyside)
Saltburn (County Durham)
Smithy Bridge & Littleborough for walking (Greater Manchester)
Southport (Lancashire)
South Wales
Tadcaster (North Yorkshire)
The Hebrides (Scotland)
The Wirral (Cheshire)
Towns & Villages (in West and South East Leeds)
Winchester (Hampshire)
Villages on Saddleworth Moor (Greater Manchester)
Bournemouth, Dorchester (Dorset)
And many more along with repeated visits to places I love.
I've had my fair share of emails from those whose ulterior motives are anything but travel! I joined Virtual Tourist to share travel experiences, make like minded friends and help others with their travel plans - I didn't join to look for love so please don't email me for a date! Also don't bother emailing me about helping an unfortunate soul claim their money back even if I'll get a lot of money for "helping"! I'm warning that these emails and also any persistence will be reported! Thank you for you co-operation in this matter.

Hi Dawn, Got your lovely postcard from York! What a wonderful, historic place! I could certainly go for afternoon tea right now! It's one of England's most wonderful traditions! Thanks so much for the postcard and thinking of me!
Hi, I have not yet booked any accommodation, need to do that soon... Not sure yet if I'll stay in a hostel or b&b!
I am looking forward to the meeting very much, great that you'll be there :-)
Hi Dawn! Thank you for the warm welcome! Wishing you the best, Alyssa.
Hi Dawn
Your travel motto just caught my eye, and reading your PPP, it seems like your loss is pretty recent.
There is no good time to lose a loved one, but perhaps you have found the best way to honour her memory by exploring the world that she's now left behind, knowing that this will encourage you to grow into a person that she'd have been proud of.
Regards
Cathy
Hi Dawn, Uppermill is really nice. you can catch bus number 184 from Huddersfield. Aly :)
Hey Dawn, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Haven't been on here for a while and only just found my VT password to add my name to the Bergamo meet! Hope you're keeping well, and that you can make it there, too :), Oh, and thanks for your kind comment. With best wishes, David
Hey Dawn, my best wishes for your Graduation .. :)
I really enjoyed my graduation too, Dawn. Not been anywhere recently other than a trip to Leamington Spa! Hopefully I will be booking a trip to Portugal for May sometime in the coming week. Need some sun! :D
