All About Me!
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do" Mark Twain
My name is Dawn. I live in Leeds in the UK. My biggest passion is to travel! I've travelled quite a bit worldwide so far. I intend to travel a lot more when I graduate and also my plan is to teach English abroad!
I made my 4th trip to Argentina in January where I visited Buenos Aires, Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia. I had an amazing time and got loads of memories that I'll cherish for a long time!
In May I had an amazing week cruising on the Adriatic sea where I visited Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Corfu Island.
Enjoying being at home and seeing more of the UK!
Planning to return to South America!
This was taken on our family day out on the 6th August 2010. We just had a wonderful time at The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire, UK.
Sadly, since April 2012, my dear Nan is no longer with us. She's no longer suffering and is at peace. She'll be missed and will never be forgotten xxx
Done a travelogue of my cruise I took in May 2011 which you can read about!
I visited the following destinations: Kotor in Montenegro, Koper in Slovenia, Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, and Venice.
I spent the first weekend in London catching up with friends and seeing shows and then went on to Birmingham for the final night of the UK Tour Production of The Phantom of the Opera. Whilst in Birmingham I spent a day exploring this interesting city especially the canals and the popular Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. At the end of May I was in London again for more Phantom.
I was in London twice for a Prom concert at the Royal Albert and spent a special birthday seeing eight shows in five days!
I spent a day in Liverpool where I explored more of the Cultural Quarter and visited its Empire Theatre to book some theatre tickets. I also return to London to see the cast changes in Phantom and also got the opportunity to see two shows in Southwark and Clapham.
I was in London at the beginning for another Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I enjoyed the Open Heritage Days and visited some interested buildings in Leeds. I also spent a day in Liverpool where my friend and I saw a show at the Empire Theatre.
I enjoyed Light Night Leeds at the beginning of October and had a day in London seeing favourite musical with my best friends. I spent a day showing a visitor some sights in Leeds (please see travelogue)
I enjoyed a long weekend in London, my last trip to the capital in 2008, and had a lovely time going to the theatre, sightseeing and catching up with friends. Please see my travelogue for more about my trip.
I spent the Christmas Holidays with my family home and away including a trip to the Yorkshire Dales and County Durham. It was lovely spending quality time with family home and away!
I spent quite a bit time in London, my favourite place to travel to at the moment, and enjoyed doing my favourite thing, visiting the theatre and spending time with friends!
See what rest of 2014 brings.....my plans are always subject to change!
Forthcoming travel plans:
June: Llandudno, London
July: London, Edinburgh and Glasgow
Plus many day trips in West, North and South Yorkshire; East Riding of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
I'm taking a break from travelling abroad for the time being so I can financially detox and prepare my future after my graduation. I will do some travelling in the UK but I don't plan to go abroad. It was a hard decision to make but I think it's the right one.
December 2010 was one the coldest winters I ever experienced and probably the coldest in my life! MSN news commented that December was the 'coldest in 120 years' with temperatures being low as minus 20 in some areas especially in the Scottish Highlands and the severe temperatures that brought most of the country to a stand still. Travelling for pleasure was not on everyone's priority list but I wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy the snow and the pretty scenery locally.
I made a couple of trips to my local park, Temple Newsam. I was able to walk to the park from where I live because it is just down the road from my home and it was nice admiring the winter wonderland and enjoying the warmth at the tea shop! We were in Darlington, in the North East of England, during the Christmas Holidays and we made a couple of local walks at a local nature reserve and at one the town's parks. Again it was enjoyable but very cold but the highlight was going sledging with my niece which I have not done since I was a kid!

November 2011: Gillybob's Chritsmas Markets Meet, Manchester, UK
February 2012: My very first VT Meet! Leeds Owl Trail, Leeds, UK
July 2012: Ettiewyn in Yorkshire Meet, York, UK
September 2012: Scarecrows and Rushbearing Festivals, Halifax, UK
There are no plans for me to attend any future VT meets for the time being. Hope the meets go well!
For the time being I'm focusing on places I want to visit in the UK in the next couple of years:
Too many along with repeated visits to places I love!
I've had my fair share of emails from those whose ulterior motives are anything but travel! I joined Virtual Tourist to share travel experiences, make like minded friends and help others with their travel plans - I didn't join to look for love so please don't email me for a date! Also don't bother emailing me about helping an unfortunate soul claim their money back even if I'll get a lot of money for "helping"! I'm warning that these emails and also any persistence will be reported! Thank you for you co-operation in this matter.
