I live in Seoul, and have for more than a decade. I have seen it change like crazy during this time. It's has a wild, funky side and a milder, more contemplative side. Moving from one to the other is not very difficult geographically. I really don't know where to start.....we have the best food in the world here, and it can be very earthy, rough-hewn, for the adventurous in everyone. Culturally, Seoullites aren't sure who they are, if they're supposed to be western, Asian, blond, azure-haired, pink-haired, Christian, or Buddhist... while claiming to share a common "identity" as a nation....they worship at the feet of what they see as The Great Amerika but resent its constant contacts....not a lot of logic there, but then there doesn't have to be!!! I love it here! |
