Kiyosu Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 17 photos
Kiyosu is best known by recently reconstructed castle keep only 6 kilometers away from Nagoya station. You will definitely see the castle when you are riding on Shinkansen Bullet Train from Osaka and the train starts to slow down.
Kiyosu castle keep has often been the target of ridicule by historical fans because the castle was poorly based on historical data. But to do this they may have to ledge claim to return Kiyosu tower of Nagoya castle because it was said to have been moved from Kiyosu castle.
Commuter Town
Kiyosu is one of the commuter towns for Nagoya. The population is about 65,000.
Mino Kaido
Mino Kaido during Edo Period(1603-1868) used to be one of the most popular alternate roads connecting Tokaido(#41 Miya) and Nakasendo(#57 Tarui). Dignitaries often chose Mino Kaido to avoid risky ferry ride from Miya(Atsuta) to Kuwana. Kiyosu is once the capital of Owari Province with the population of 60,000 very large city in late 16th century standard. Kiyosu also thrived as one of the stations of Mino Kaido. Biwajima area about three kilometer southwest from Kiyosu thrived as a marketplace.

Kiyosu Castle Keep is also popular for railway fans because from the top floor of the keep you can view Shinkansen Bullet Trains(once in every 5 or 10 minutes), freight trains and JR Tokaido Local and rapid trains. If the weather is fine you can also see the skyscrapers of Nagoya, Nagoya castle and Yoro mountains. During April when carp streamers were set, lots of railway fans visit Otebashi bridge to take a photo of carp streamers and running Shinkansen.
In Kiyosu Park about 200 meters downstream from Kiyosu Castle Keep there is a nice statue of young Nobunaga Oda. It was very difficult to have a nice photo because the park was misty due to slight rain.
