Yokohama as a city is not more than 150 years old but it still has some historical sites related to Old Tokaido Road. Yokohama has three of the lodging stations: #3 Kanagawa, #4 Hodogaya and #5 Totsuka. Yokohama also has some historical areas formerly stations for highway leading to Mt. Oyama.
Azamino area has some historical sites but not yet known even among Yokohama residents.

On the hot day on July 29th I went to walk around former Totsuka station of Old Tokaido Road. Top photo is the west mound of Shinano Ichirizuka. Ichirizukas are mounds erected at every 4 kilometer mark on the old highways. This Ichirizuka mound is one of the few such mounds easily accessible from train station. It is only about 15 minutes walk from Higashi Totsuka station of Yokosuka Line.

I started walking along the Old Tokaido Highway westward from Ichirizuka Mound to Former Totsuka station area.
