I first visited Port Barton in 1990 and usually take a trip there each year. It is still a quiet place and you are likely to share the beach with a handful of others. The bay is protected and the water is safe except for the occasional storm which is perhaps every 10 years. Yes, there are a few more cottages and resorts, a few more places to eat but i don't know anyone who didn't enjoy a few days here.
Port Barton lies on the west coast and you have to take a rough road from the highway north, passing by beautiful scenery, perhaps getting covered in mud if you are on a motorbike in the rainy season. A few kms before you reach PB you will get your first view of the ocean, which will take your breath away
In Port Barton you can relax on the beach if that's what you want or if you prefer to exercise walk to the waterfall, rent a kayak, try your luck at fishing, go diving, take a trip to the outlying islands. It's up to you.
- Pros:quiet, laid back, good food
- Cons:sometimes the road is very muddy
- In a nutshell:NICE TO RELAX AND GET AWAY FROM IT ALL

very informative page, especially accommodation tips! I'm going in Port Barton myself in March. I'm looking for a simple nipa house or cottage right on the beach, with a good beach in front of it. I am considering Coconut Garden Resort on Cacnipa, Cassandra Beach Cottages... any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Well, i am happy with a simple place and we have stayed in quite a few places over the years and last time we stayed in Ausan's Cottages (or maybe it's bungalows) and they had a duplex there so we took one side for 500 pesos a night. It had a balcony with hammock, bed with mosquito net, and a small bathroom which was attached to the bungalow. It was on an excellent part of the beach for swimming and it is exactly where the jeepney arrives from Puerto Princesa.
Cassandra's bungalows were just built last year and Cassandra is the new wife of an American i have known for many years and he also has two houses to rent. Cassandra's bungalows are adequate but if you stay there you will probably get a discount on the 1200 asking price (1000 probably). Unfortunately that end of the bay is not particularly good for swimming.
Next door to Cassandra's is El Dorado which has concrete bungalows, small but has everything you need. There is a nice bar facing the ocean and Lucy, the owner is a marvelous cook and used to do seafood buffets (not sure if she still does).
Coconut Garden Resort, an excellent choice which i can highly recommend even though it is a little pricier than before. When i had my guest house in town i sent many people to the resort which is owned by a Swiss friend that i have known for 17 years. Having been chief chef on a cruise liner for most of his life his food is excellent. Swimming is fine from the sandy beach and there is some snorkeling too, but better ask Henry to take you out on the boat for this.
We usually have a long weekend in Port Barton 2X a year and usually enjoy the beach and food. In March you will probably find not so many tourists as most people rush from the over-rated Sabang to El Nido.
don't hesitate for asking more advice!!
oh, wow, that's a very comprehensive reply! thanks so much for taking your time!! yes, I will gladly ask for more advice.
