Unique Qualities: This is the original jail of Mt Gambier. You will note that it is built right next to a primary school, and yes, I went there. I remember kicking the football over the fence to the prisoners! Anyhow, this is very unique and fun!

We were given a voucher by our best friends when we got engaged some years back, for a meal and room. The meal was great, accomodation was in a superior room and it was satisfactory. The decor is nothing special, the pool is nice though.

Unique Qualities: This popular motel gets used quite a lot for meetings, conferences and functions.

Address: Backs on to Jubilee HIghway and fronts Commercial Street East
Directions: You will find it right in the heart of the 'motel district' - about 5 motels right next to each other.

Instead of writing heaps and heaps of separate tips for the many, many hotels in this town, I will give you list of the main ones and what I reckon about them. Since I live here, i have only stayed in a couple of them, but seen the inside of a few more of them. Hope you find this helpful.

Presidential - nice rooms, can't fault it.
International - great for weddings, big, recently upgraded restaurant and bar. Great food.
Commodore on the Park - Recently upgraded rooms, popular destination. Great central location.
Southgate - as mentioned, a great hotel, restaurant is superb. Rooms really nice.
Lake's Resort - had my wedding and stayed over here. Really great, modern hotel with excellent restaurant and chef.
Mid City Motel - The best location for walking around the town. great rooms.
