Leeds is the most fantastic city in England, without a doubt though I am not sure if it's perfect for the idle tourist. However, if you are planning to spend a little time anywhere in England I would recommend giving it a try. Often unfairly seen as being in the shadow of Manchester over the Pennines, Leeds' greatest attribute is the laid back, freindly and direct attitude of the locals. Noone could claim it is a Venice or Prague but the refurbished industrial heritage has its own beauty. It stands as real working city rather than a picture postcard and one of the few northern cities which is actually quite wealthy. |
