"Quaint market town in Southern Wales (UK)" Bridgend by Paolomusc

Bridgend is one of those lesser known destinations that will always be an 'also-ran' as it is bypassed by a large motorway which takes visitors on to better known resorts in West Wales or England. However, by missing it, you will be missing a great opportunity to see a lovely little town just 5 miles from an extroadinary 8 mile coastline with European Blue Flag beaches and a wonderful laid-back atmosphere. The town is perfectly situated for touring South Wales and is only 20 minutes from Wales' capital city of Cardiff and its maritime city of Swansea. The very motorway that by passes it, also give superb access to all the other places in South Wales such as Pembrokeshire, The Brecon Beacons etc. If coming to South Wales, make a point of visiting my local town. The old Bridge - Bridgend

This is the old footbridge built in the 14th century and washed away by floods, then rebuilt again in the 17th century. Built to help the pilgrims cross the river on their way to St David's.

Throughout the summer the town comes alive with numerous events including entertainers, dances, food and drink.
