Well here I am in all my glory, or whatever you might want to call it. I have worked in the travel and tourism industry all my working life and so love traveling. I particularly love Europe and my home land of Italy, from where my family originated.
I have quite an interesting story attached to my family in that they came from a small village called Germasino in the Valle Albano above Lake Como, in Northern Italy. 'We' locals call it Alto Lario. Three boys from my ancestors left the village and walked over the San Jorio pass into Switzerland to escape being 'drafted' into the Austrian Army, when Austria was 'given' the area after the Treaty of Vienna. They eventually came to Britain and settled with British wives. Two subsequently left again for a new life in Australia and populated half of Victoria by the look of the many relatives over there.
The brother that stayed in Britain is the one that I am descended from. I still have very distant cousins back in Italy and I visit them at least once a year, maybe twice (and more if I can get the time) I love Italy with a passion and feel so much at home there. There is a lot of Italian in me - passionate, moody, exciteable, lots of arm waving, speak very fast, eat and drink much slower! I am depressed without the sunshine and love my music too. So, your cliched italian I suppose. Still, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have travelled further though and been to Japan three consecutive years in a row, as well as Australia, Singapore, Florida, Chicago, The Carribean and many more places. I don't mind travelling alone, but its always nice to share experiences with others, especially friends. Hope you like my ramblings and travel tips.

Happy Birthday (tanti auguri) Paolo!
Mini meet at Lake Como would be great. And Caroline (Piccolina) has also mentioned this - you might want to tie in with her! Looking forward to seeing things develop! It's YOUR Meet!!
Great!!!! A mini meet at Lake Como would be perfect! This is what we were hoping for- VTers to arrange mini meets, especially those who are local/ have inside knowledge!
Ahhh, Paolo - our Italian roots will always flourish, even when we are taken away! Our histories are quite similar. I love this intro - good insight to you and the great good humor I really enjoy. Come back soon - keep in touch. a presto, Carol
Thank for visiting my Lago de Como page. It is clear we share a great love for the area. We will stay for two weeks this Oct. in Varenna and continue to explore. I envy your frequent trips...we've been absent for a long...7 years. Tom
