"Home..." poppy6488's Profile
I was born in Ireland, the last of five children. I was the youngest by ten years.
A surprise or an afterthought!
By the time I was born, my parents were of an age when most couples had finished adding to their family. My older siblings had left home by the time I was nine years old, so I grew up almost an only child. Accompanying my parents in day to day life, and usually amongst adult company, made me view the world through adult eyes and I became mature for my young age. We lived in a close, rural community, about a mile from the largest town, and a stones throw from the sea. It was a safe, happy childhood, where I was free to roam and explore, as children should.
It nurtured in me, a love of the sea, the countryside and animals, which I have never lost. All of my life, animals have entered and departed.
However, my parents were strict in their religious beliefs, and my father wanted all of his children to have the education and opportunities he had not. By the time I reached my teens I felt stifled, and my father's hopes and ambitions for my future, were not mine.
I left for England to follow my dreams...
except that I didn't, and married very soon after, and had two children. I was very young and it was not to last.
I later married again, and together, we brought up my two children to become independant adults, making their own choices and mistakes along the way.
Life goes on, and one learns to ride the rollercoaster, griping tightly, with white knuckles showing.
Many years later, we made the decision to come to Ireland to live.
It was a decision we wish we had made sooner. It's good to be home.
I live about 45 minutes from my old hometown.
I live in the countryside, not far from a bustling town, and a stones throw from the sea.
A very scenic area, the views from my windows are spectacular and ever changing.
I have about an acre of garden, that will always be a work in progress!
The animals contine to enrich my life.
I currently have four cats that have chosen to live here.
They will be showcased in time!
So, now life is slower and calmer, and I intend to start seeing the world.
My husband has no interest in foreign travel, so I am happy to do so alone.
I have made a tentative start on my personal album page...
SUCCESS
Success is a journey of trials and beliefs,
Not measured in dollars but the length of your reach,
How far you will travel is not up to me,
Your dreams once unravelled, are your future to be.
Success is a discipline you must embrace,
To leave your mark on the human race,
For the road is rough, and the journey long,
And life can play a bitter song.
For life is a hard master, we do not deny,
The rewards are only for those that try
For those who don't, or won't or cheat,
A more cruel master you will not meet.
Your future is a choice, so make up your mind,
Time stands not still, for all mankind,
The passing moment, your jewel to treasure,
So live out your dreams, a life of pleasure.*

Normally a jeans and jumper sort of girl, this photo sort of surprised ME! Definitely one for the album. :-)
