Saturday is a must

The Otovalo Saturday market is a highlight for anbody touring the South American West Coast: nowhere you will see such large numbers of indigenous forlks in such large numbers coming from mountain valley farms to do their business, sell artisan product (among which the famouzs colorful woolen handicrafts), but above all the cattle and other farm products.
Of course, every weekday is market day in Orovalo, but Saturday is unique anywhere in Latin America. Most tourists come to Otovalo on a day trip from Quite, but miss out on the farm market that is at its best in the early hours on Satrrday. Stay a couple of nights in this firendly town, you will love it.

...then the gifts for those at home

Bags, gloves and hats, carpets and towels, garments, everything in local wool and very colorful, herbal teas, a wide array of foodstuff...take your pick.

Breakfast

a treat and a brgain for tourists!

I'm one of those tourists who didn't make it to Otavalo in time for the animal market. Luckily I had the opportunity to see one in Zumbahua!
