"BISTRITA" Judetul Bistrita-Nasaud by billus

Judetul Bistrita-Nasaud Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 20 photos

Contrary to the instructions of my therapist, I went directly to the galleries in the sleepy Saxon town of Bistritz. Dr. Weintraub warned me that this could induce a relapse into arcadomania.

The gothic, arcaded buildings along Bistrita's Piatra Centrale date from the 14th and 15th centuries, and later received renaissance alterations such as handsome window surrounds. My descent into the depths of arcadomania had begun.

Original 14th century church was begun in the 14th century, with the tower added in 1559. The sun appeared briefly and illuminated the renaissance facade and the contemporary scaffolding.

Interestingly your Nasaud (anything to do with Nassau, one might think) is next to Zutphen.

nice pic of Sugalete. The brick church looks like many in Germany... Central Europe intertwined :-)
