***Recently returned to Kingston for a short trip. The atmosphere was charged as Kingston and Jamaica, in general, is undergoing some tense times as political gang warfare is on the rise. Most of Jamaica's top tourist areas (Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril) are still safe for tourists, but it never hurts to be careful. I will be adding some more photos and information about this last trip soon...***

On my last trip to Jamaica, I went to Kingston and had the opportunity to stay with friends. I had been to Jamaica several times before, but had been limited to living like a tourist, but I was lucky this time and was able to spend it with some people who showed me a different Jamaica that I was able to see with a different set of eyes. Unfortunately, this set of eyes did not have a camera obscuring its vision so no more pictures. Well, until next time...

Despite all the hype, Kingston is just another big city with all the perils of big city life. There are definitely areas I would avoid at night, but, in general, I felt safe.
