Tybee Island is the closest beach to Atlanta, and right beyond Savannah, which in itself does not have a great beach. Tybee, in my opinion, is overpriced, and the beach is right where the river comes out to the ocean, so the water is brackish and brown. I noticed lots of cigarette butts in the sand as well. There are a couple of good restaurants close by, and Savannah has lots to offer visitors, but I suggest that Tybee should be missed for a better beach experience.
