looking up the creek towards Paper Mill Rd
There are 5-6 different areas that you can go in this park, from long walks through grassy plains, to walks through the woods with eerie creek areas, to local history houses from the Civil War time, to fantastic Cemetaries and lots more---many places to just walk, with trails through woods, open areas, behind huge mansions, and up and down the mountain itself. Make sure you obey all the parking regulations---some places you can just pull over on the side, and others you have to park in only parking spaces---there are NO-PARKING signs where you should not park. There are a few weird rules, but maybe nobody will say anything, but there are some wide open grassy areas just waiting for a friendly frisbee game of toss, but there are spots where this is not allowed, so just be careful. A really good place where I am very glad my tax dollars go to keeping this place wonderful for everyone!
Sope Creek is a gorgeous creek falling down the rocks towards the Chattahoochie--good parking ($3) and fairly easy trail....off Paper Mill Rd

Massage?
Located near the Hyatt Suites, this place just opened with a groupon, and I have been there twice now---the therapists are great and the massages are relaxing if you want, or invigorating with a firmer touch. Recommended.

saturday farmers market
There is a local farmer's market here at the Marietta Square every saturday morning starting around 8:30 AM in the summer, normally selling out around 11:00 for the local items. There are locally grown vegetables, fruits, and other items such as soaps, homemade jerky, fresh-made bacon and salamis (MMMM!), fresh eggs, fresh lemonade and lots more. I belong to a CSA, which means that I pay a farmer about $275-$300 in January and I get to come by here every Saturday during the summer (usually about 16 visits) and I get a bag full of fresh grown and picked vegetables---whatever he has picked that week, from lettuces, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, many squashes, and other goodies, knowing that there are not pesticides and such is a big plus, also knowing that my local farmer is making money from me. I like that alot more than paying a big supermarket. There are local bakeries located here as well with good breakfast pastries and such....
There are a couple of cafes open early during this, and you can go in and get a cup of coffee or have a full breakfast while enjoying the market. If I can plug my farmer, his stand is the Two Mule Farm stand, and he has strawberries right now---other goodies coming soon!
update October 2011---they will have a Winter Market from January 2012 to April when the spring market will reopen! Still open through November for greens and hothouse items..
