" SKIATHOS - Sporades" Skiathos Island by greekcypriot

The famous Mamma Mia movie was set here on this island.
It is the hometown of Papadiamandis, the famous Greek writer. (1851). It belongs to the Sporades group of islands. The other islands nearby are Alonisos, Skopelos and Skyros found on the north-western Aegean.
My impressions are the very best. Skiathos is a paradise for people who love excitement, nightlife and of course beautiful beaches.

We rented a car for all 5 nights, and had a tour round the Island, spotted nice beaches and it was real fun. Throughout the island there are thick pine forests.
The town of Skiathos is the port and it is full of life any time of day or night. It is full of café bars and restaurants scattered throughout the coast. It is very touristy during the summer months with its beautiful hidden valleys and sandy beaches, its caves with the sculpting rocks and small coves that make the island a gem. Spend at least 5 days when you come here!
It is just a 2 hour trip by ferry from Volos.

TURQUOISE CLEAR WATERS

THE BEACHES I LIKED
As far as the beaches are concerned, there are many to choose from, but the most popular is the beach called KOUKOUNARIES which is about 10 klm from the capital with extremely fine sand and with fragrant pine tree forest.

The other one I liked was KOLIOS beach about 7km from the Capital. With the round-shaped organized beach, this beach has crystal clear turquoise waters, ideal for sea sports.

We left with the best memories, promising to visit SKOPELOS next time which is considered to be another beautiful island.
