Some things about me and my life.

I am a Freelance Guide Writer, and I love sharing my travel experiences with others. I am a Greek Cypriot and I was born in Larnaca. I have been living in Greece the last 35 years. I used to teach English and write as well. I have travelled to more than 36 countries world wide, and plan to double them the next few years.

My friends call me "A traveller", and I strongly believe that the world is like a book, and that those who don't travel read only a page. I got so much out of all these travels, and as a teacher I can pass my real experience to my students when we come to a lesson where I can tell them the kind of life other people have in foreign countries and their culture and customs.

MY MISSION TRIP TO KENYA IN JULY 2010:

After all these years of travelling, this summer I want to experience the real travel, and do something new. I already know that it will be hard, but I am willing to give it a try. For this reason me and my husband are flying to Nairobi in July on a Mission trip. We are not going to stay at a hotel or an expensive lodge in any touristic park there. We are staying with local families who will show us how their every-day life is.

We will be mixing with locals, visit schools, the Massai, and other tribes in the area, do some climbing around the Kilimanjaro mountain probably, and go to a Pilgrimage in Uganda.
This trip has nothing to do with anything touristic, staying at expensive lodges in parks. Just do what the locals do. I look forward to it.

SO WHAT AM I DOING AFTER KENYA?

A good question! I quit my job, as I think I can live with much less, and enjoy a happier life. I don't get a single penny now, but I am travelling a lot not as a tourist like before but as a traveller. I love both the country I was born -Cyprus, and just as much the country I now live and that is Greece. Actually I am lately living in both countries and I come and go because I have two homes. I am sure there are so many things to see and do here in these two beautiful countries. I am very attached to the good old days, the way people used to live with very little but still being happy, and this is what I seek in my travels right now. I travel a lot, and I love mixing with locals because in this way I learn about the culture of people.

Photography had always been my great passion and you will always see me with a camera in my hand.
I exercise a lot, and enjoy each day as it comes. I am happy with the least I can get, happy to be alive and healthy to travel.

I’ve just posted the VT MEET IN PARIS 21st and 22nd June 2012
21st June (the longest day of the year) for the Fete de la Musique.
This FREE event is not to be missed and you should expect music, dance, local food and many drinks along the way all night long.
Join me also on Friday 22nd June, to continue in the same rhythm – picnic and dancing along the river.

It's on Saturday but my week is turning out pretty good so far. OH a belated birthday wish to you! :) I'm sure you had fun..was it a big one, like mine?
The planning of my trip to India is slow, as life has it's surprises and they inevitably get in the way! which is always the way..BUT..having said that, I am on track which is a good thing and really looking forward to it! :)
