Kavala is the city where I live currently and I have lived the biggest part of my life, so it is not very easy to see it through a touristic perspective. Would I choose Kavala for my holidays? I’d say why not! It is a good choice, as long as someone doesn’t expect to be knocked-down by famous monuments and sights, but, instead, experience the real pulse of life in Greece, eat well, meet local people and discover the traces of a long enchanting history. After all, it is not a touristic “Disney-land”, but a real city, with real people and real every-day life.
And keep in mind that in the wider area, you’ll find almost everything you could ask, for any type of holidays you have in mind: emerald seas, mountains, a river ideal for sports and adventure, music and drama festivals and, just a breath away, the charming island of Thassos.
