PICCADILLY CIRCUS
Situated at the heart of the West End, this is one of the most popular meeting points in London. It is a dynamic area of people and traffic mixed with intense colour and noise. There is the statue of Eros, designed by Sir Alfred Gilbert in 1893 as a tribute to the Earl of Shaftesbury, the old Victorian philanphropist who did much to help the poor of London. At night Piccadilly Circus is a blaze of colour from animated neon advertisements. From here you are within a short walk to Regent Street, Shaftebury Avenue, Soho, Haymarket and Trafalgar Square or Leicester Square.
