Canberra in the ACT (Australin Capital Territory)
Canberra which is the Aboriginal word for "meeting place", is the seat of the Government of Australia and its territories. Also more than 50 foreign embassies are situated in and around the city, many of them built in traditional architecture of their homelands.
Canberra is located in the northern part of the Australian Capital Territory, 300 km southwest of Sydney and 650 km northeast of Melbourne by road.

 Useful Canberra tips. Visited there in the 1970s on business trip. The Australian War Memorial Museum was memorable and the architecture of the various embassies was indicative of their home countries. Had a great disco then, too, near town square. Doug

 The National Gallery of Art is a must for me now. It's always somewhat difficult for me to imagine skiing in Australia :-)
