Warnings Or Dangers: Currency 2003 - Bring enough money with you.
  • Tip Rating:
  • All the countries in the Kingdom use the Pound Sterling. Whichever, country you are in (ie England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Gibralter, it is still the Pound Sterling .For those of you from outside the European Common Market area, such as the States the euro zone must seem expensive and the UK even more so. Be warned to bring enough money with you, even we in the UK think the euro zone, is expensive at present. It is 13% more expensive at the end of May 2003 than it was in Jan 2003, but when you live here you don't notice unless you travel.

Warnings Or Dangers: Driving and Roads
  • Tip Rating:
  • Don't forget that we drive on the left in all of the UK. The speed limit on the motorways and all dual carriageways, unless there are signs (indicating a lower speed), is 70mph. Single Carriage roads the maximum speed is 60mph. In built-up areas the maximum speed is 30mph. There are an increasing number of 50mph, 40mph, and in towns 20mph restricted areas; these areas very often have small repeater signs at head height. Generally built-up areas have street lights, so don't rely on the presence of houses to indicate a built-up area.
It is not lawful to overtake in the inside, but only on the left-hand side of a moving vehicle.
For the benefit of the residents of USA - never turn right, or left, on a red traffic light. It is unlawful in the UK.

Good idea to preserve varieties of potatoes, even if it does get a bit bleak in the winter. Maybe you can take another picture next summer, for the contrast. – Greetings from Frankfurt am Main.

Potatoes, eh? .Memories still linger of tattie [potato] holidays in Scotland , and scrabbling in the earth [or mud] to clear my 'stage' before the digger came round again. My back aches with thinking about it.
