"A peaceful stop off on the long haul South" Ambalavao by CatherineReichardt

Ambalavao Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 10 photos

Ambalavao is a pretty little town set amid a lovely landscape. We only stopped there for a short while, but the Bradt guide - which we generally found to be very reliable - enthuses about the place and its attractions, so we have no reason to believe that it is anything other than a pleasant place that is worth more time than we could afford on our tight schedule.
Obvious attractions include the paper factory (see travel tip), the marvellous community-run lemur reserve at Anja (see travel tip) and the famous zebu market, which we didn't see.
Ambalavao sits close to the edge of the High Plateau, so enjoy the glorious scenery whilst it lasts ... once you descend onto the flat, featureless plain beyond, there's a whole lot of monotony ahead of you!
