Guerlesquin has no great claims to touristic fame, and is unlikely to make many people's list of Top 10 Things to Do In Bretagne.

However, that is primarily my motivation for writing this page, because Guerlesquin is so typical of many gorgeous granite villages that are scattered across the pretty Breton countryside, which receive relatively few visitors and are all the better for it. By all means, go and visit the fabulous Mont St Michel - but be aware that you're going to share it with the 3 million other people who do so annually - but also allow yourself time to dawdle en route and explore places that you've never heard of just because they look interesting. If you're looking to get a sense of Bretagne, then appreciate that it is primarily a rural region, and that the villages and small towns are the bastions of regional culture and identity that is so sadly being lost in the increasingly homogenised global community of urban life.
