"Nature paradise - Fishing, diving, hiking" Caravelas by rebower

Caravelas is a simple fisherman's village in the South of Bahia, in the Northeast of Brazil.
It's hard tyo arrive there, due to bad roads and public transportation system, but once you arrive in the quiet lovely place, you forget urbanization and industrialization.

My husband and I spent four days there including New Year's Eve and we don't regret. However I thought it would be hard to find peace and silence in any beach town in Brazil during this special week of the year was, we took the risk and traveled to this place that none of our friends had ever been or heard of.

The experience was terrific. We spent almost nothing in a guest house and food in the highest season for tourism in Brazil. The "pousada" cost R$ 80.00 per night for 2 people (about U$50.00) and, Belmiro's Restaurant, the best restaurant sold the most delicious "moquecas de camarão" ever (shrimp stew with rice, salad, and "pirão" _a kind of fish cream) for 3 people for R$ 30.00 (U$ 18.00).

We stayed at this modest, but kind of cute guest house called Pousada das Sereias, which is run by a nice young couple, Roberta and her husband (I just forgot his name).Pousada das Sereias is not online, but you can call and make reservation: 55-73-8812-2502 / 55-73-8844-7124 (robertahermogenes@hotmail.com) - Maybe they don't speak English.
